Arquest Architecture is proposing a sensitive enlargement and alteration of a property within the Nunhead Green Conservation Area.
This project seeks to harmonise an anomalous dwelling with its Victorian terrace through a proposed hip-to-gable roof extension, loft conversion, and significant internal alterations. Currently, the property deviates from the street’s consistent design with its hip roof and two-level outrigger.
Our scheme proposes addressing this by converting the hip roof to a gable, aiming to match the area’s aesthetic. The rear outrigger is proposed to be extended to three stories, which would create a consistent building line. The proposed loft conversion includes a set-back, arched dormer designed to soften its impact on the street view, aiming to seamlessly integrate the property into the established Nunhead Green streetscape.
Internally, the proposal seeks to transform the ground floor’s layout and opening sizes. A currently dark utility room is proposed to become a light-filled connection to the kitchen, aiming to align the property’s massing with its neighbours.
